House Votes to Reduce Number of Weeks Missourians Can Receive Unemployment Benefits

The Missouri House has voted to reduce the number of weeks people can receive unemployment benefits from 13 to eight.

Unemployment benefits are already tied to the unemployment rate in the state.

Missouri’s rate in March was 3.6%.

So under the House bill, unemployed workers would receive payments for nine weeks.

The bill now goes to the Missouri Senate.
