Human remains have been found downstream of the Lake Springfield Dam on Thursday, and the Springfield Fire Department says while positive identification has not been made, the remains are believed to be those of Taylor Stawny.
Thursday marked the 40th day in the search for the woman who had been missing since June 14th, when she and her three daughters were swept over the dam during flash flooding.
The family had been floating on inflatable tubes tied together with a kayak when the group drifted over the dam.
12-year-old Aurelie Stawny was rescued and was the only survivor. In the days following the incident, the bodies of her sisters, 19-year-old Andrea Stawny and 17-year-old Sophie Stawny, were recovered from the lake.
