Investigation Underway in Springfield Shooting

Springfield Police are continuing to investigate a fatal shooting that occurred on Saturday.

The shooting took place near the 2400 block of East Commercial Street.

Officers say that when they arrived, they found two men who had been shot. One of the men, 30-year-old Johnny Hipol, later died of his injuries before he could be transported to the hospital. The other victim was treated for his wounds and released.

No other information about any suspects in the case has been released. Authorities have said, however, that they have a person of interest.
