What We Know: Springfield police say a driver has died after their vehicle was hit by another vehicle on westbound James River Freeway between Campbell and Kansas Expressway Tuesday afternoon. Police have identified the victim as Leah Hyde, 24, from Willard.
Police say Hyde’s vehicle initially hit the median and came to a stop in the middle of the inside lane. When Hyde got out of the vehicle, she was hit by another vehicle and died at the scene.
The Impact: Westbound traffic on James River Freeway was diverted at Campbell Tuesday afternoon while police investigated the crash.
