Jet Headed For Springfield-Branson Crashes After Take Off

UPDATE: Seven people are dead and five remain hospitalized in Philadelphia after a medical jet crashed less than a minute after takeoff from northeast Philadelphia Airport on Friday.

The plane, which was scheduled to fly to Springfield for a refueling stop before heading on to Mexico, was carrying a pediatric patient who had recently completed treatment at Shriners Children’s Hospital.

The child, her mother, and four crew members died, along with one person on the ground in a car as the Learjet crashed and exploded, damaging nearby homes and businesses.

Original Story: A Jet Rescue Air Ambulance bound for Springfield-Branson National Airport crashed shortly after taking off from the Northeast Philadelphia Airport.

The F-A-A confirms that 6 people were on board, but no word on the condition of the passengers or their names.

It was taking a girl back to her home in Mexico after being treated for a life-threatening condition.

The Lear Jet crashed around 6:30 pm.
