A woman from Springfield accused of neglecting a child, leading to the baby’s death, will soon go on trial.
49-year-old Deborah Lundstrom was arrested in March of 2022 after an eight-month-old suffocated in her care at a home on North Washington.
Investigators say Lundstrom admitted to leaving nine children unattended for over 10 minutes to make a pickup at Hillcrest High School.
During that time, the infant was restrained in a car seat and reportedly suffocated, likely do to the chest clip.
Lundstrom is charged with:
- Operating a child care facility without a license
- Eight counts of first-degree endangering the welfare of a child
- One count of first-degree endangering the welfare of a child resulting in death
- One count of first-degree manslaughter
Her trial was scheduled to begin Tuesday.
