What We Know: A familiar fight over public access to the Finley River at Lindenlure is back before Christian County officials.
Four families who own property near the popular swimming and fishing spot are asking the Christian County Commission to vacate part of Canyon Road.
What It Means: A petitioner says the request would not eliminate public access to the river. He says the change would help landowners control vehicle traffic, get farm equipment onto their property, and take some road maintenance costs off the county.
But the River Access Coalition plans to oppose the request.
Public access at Lindenlure has been fought over before. A judge ruled in 2021 that the access should remain open, and an appeals court upheld that decision in 2024.
What’s Next: The Christian County Commission will hold a public hearing on the latest request January 13 at 1 p.m.
