Lynn Rowe, Former Chief of Springfield Police, Dead at 79

The Springfield Police Department is mourning the loss of the man who led them for almost 20 years.

Former Springfield Police Chief Lynn Rowe died at age 79 earlier this month.

He served as the Chief of Police from 1993 to 2010 in the Queen City, and spent 46 years total in law enforcement around the country, including in Colorado and Florida.

In 2006, Rowe was honored as the “Outstanding Police Chief of the Year” in the state of Missouri.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 3pm-6pm at Greenlawn East.

In lieu of flowers, the Rowe family is requesting donations be made to the Greene County 100 Club, a non-profit organization he founded that provides financial assistance to the families of officers and firefighters killed in the line of duty.
