A man has been taken into custody following reported sexual misconduct in Webster County.
Online court dockets show that Darin Gray of Elkland, MO has been charged with first-degree attempted rape, three counts of first-degree attempted sodomy and attempt to tamper with a victim in a felony prosecution.
According to the probable cause statement, law enforcement responded to a witness on October 16 who alleged that a victim had been raped by Gray.
Officers spoke with the victim, who at first said nothing had happened, but later stated that she had been in sexual misconduct with Gray three times.
Gray was taken to the Webster County Sheriff’s Office and questioned by deputies, in which he denied the victim’s accusations and claimed that the victim was like a daughter to him.
However, he later admitted to sexual misconduct with the victim at his resident.
Deputies also questioned Gray about evidence found by officials of him speaking to underage girls on social media in January, and he admitted to having messaged those girls but couldn’t recall the sites he had used to contact them.
Gray is being held in the Webster County Jail with no bond.
