A man from Springfield is facing charges in a shooting investigation.
Prosecutors have charged Abel Johnson with unlawful use of a weapon and armed criminal action.
On August 13th, officers responded to a shooting West Lindberg, where they found broken glass and shell casings.
According to investigators, security footage showed Johnson shooting at an SUV as it drove away, hitting the victim inside the SUV with gunfire.
Johnson told investigators that he was trying to help the other person, who was being assaulted, and only started shooting when the driver pulled a gun and aimed it at him.
Investigators say the security video does not show that the driver had a gun.
Johnson is currently being held on a $50,000 bond.
