A man has been charged with murder after a body was found with multiple stab wounds in Douglas County on August 15th.
According to court dockets, Aaron Vaughan of Ava, MO has been charged with first-degree murder, armed criminal action, and resisting arrest.
According to the Ava Police Department, around 1:30 a.m. last Friday, an officer was dispatched to Bunch Avenue for a possible homicide.
Other officers had secured the scene by the time the APD officer arrived at the house.
Blood was found in the garage, stairway, and basement of the home; and a body with multiple stab wounds was found on the couch in Vaughan’s bedroom.
One of the officers that arrived early found Vaughan by the back of his car, and noticed that he had blood on his arms and hands.
The officer attempted to apprehend and cuff Vaughan; He resisted the arrest, but was able to be subdued.
After arriving at the jail, Vaughan was given a breathalyzer test, which showed he had a BAC of .169.
Vaughan was interviewed by Douglas County Sheriff Chris Degase, where he stated that he and the victim had gotten into a fist fight, but it never got serious.
He also stated that it just the two of them in the room that night, but repeatedly said that he “did not do it”.
According to police, Vaughan also told them that he suffered from PTSD.
