What We Know: A Taney County jury has convicted a man in the 2024 shooting of a law enforcement officer near Kissee Mills.
What It Means: David Viner was found guilty on all counts, including three counts each of first-degree assault and armed criminal action.
Prosecutors say Viner opened fire during an assault investigation near Highways 160 and 76 in March of 2024. Officer Flowers was shot twice and taken to a hospital.
Viner ran into the woods but was later found hiding about 300 yards from the scene with three guns.
What’s Next: The jury recommended life in prison along with several additional prison terms.
A judge will decide whether those sentences will run at the same time or back-to-back. Viner is scheduled to be sentenced on December 18.
