A man is suing Silver Dollar City claiming a train derailment in 2022 caused him permanent injuries.
What We Know: Timothy Taylor filed the petition on July 14th in Stone County against Herschend Family Entertainment Corporation, the owner of Silver Dollar City.
The lawsuit is related to an incident that occurred on October 26, 2022, when a train ride that Taylor was riding derailed and flipped over, causing Taylor’s back to get injured.
Taylor alleges negligence and premises liability in the park. He claims that the incident caused him to suffer a large C4-5-disc herniation, a diffuse C6-7 disc herniation and a central C6-7 disc herniation.
The suit claims that the train cars were not constructed properly and the track rails were misaligned, causing it to flip over. It also alleges that the employees that built the train cars had insufficient training or experience.
What It Means: Taylor is seeking unspecified damages exceeding $25,000, plus court costs and other relief.
Two other lawsuits against SDC stemming from the derailment incident were filed in 2025.
