A jury has found a man guilty in a deadly shooting in Springfield in 2021.

A jury found Paul Morales of Springfield guilty of second-degree murder in the shooting death of Chandler Sweaney at a home on west Chestnut Street.

The jury started deliberating at 4:15 p.m. Wednesday, once the defense and prosecution rested their cases.

Prosecutors say Morales fatally shot Sweaney, who was an innocent bystander when a drug deal with his roommate that went wrong.
