Man from Aurora Receives Prison Sentence for Endangering the Welfare of a Child

A man from Aurora will spend the next few years in prison after pleading guilty to endangering the welfare of a child.

Prosecutors say 41-year-old Matthew Fries was originally charged with four counts of rape for repeated assaults on a 17-year-old girl at his home last year.

Those charges were later dropped after he entered an Alford plea, in which he does not admit to the crimes, but acknowledges there is enough evidence to convict him.

Fries was sentenced to seven years in prison.
