Man from Hollister Sentenced for Police Standoff with Toy Gun

A man from Hollister will spend several years in prison for forcing police into an hours-long standoff with a fake gun.

Investigators say Jason Lloyd and two others barricaded themselves inside a home in Hollister while police were attempting to apprehend Lloyd for an alleged assault that had occurred previously.

During the standoff, Lloyd brandished what appeared to be a handgun, forcing police to form a perimeter and negotiate the group to come out.

Officials say tear gas, pepper balls, phone calls and even sound devices were used over the course of the 11-hour ordeal.

Eventually, Lloyd and the other two inside the home exited and were arrested without further incident.

The other two suspects, Justin Lloyd and Chrystal Pledger, were sentenced earlier this year for misdemeanor assault to time served.

Jason was sentenced Monday to five years in prison for second-degree assault, armed criminal action and resisting arrest.
