A man from Springfield registered as a sex offender is now awaiting sentencing after being found guilty on child pornography charges.
Prosecutors say 44-year-old Alvan Allen was found guilty of possession of child pornography.
He was previously convicted of aggravated indecent liberties with a child and failure to register as a sex offender.
Investigators say a search warrant was executed on Allen’s home in 2020, where thousands of images and videos of child porn was seized from his laptop and cell phone.
Due to his prior convictions for child sex crimes, his sentence carries a minimum of 15 years in prison.
Allen’s sentencing hearing has not been scheduled at this time.
