A man from Springfield has been found guilty of multiple felonies after he sexually assaulted his neighbor at knifepoint.
Court documents show that Christopher Daniel Crabtree was found guilty of first degree sodomy or attempted sodomy, first degree rape or attempted rape, second degree kidnapping, third degree assault, and unlawful use of a weapon.
In September of 2024, the victim told police that Crabtree was her neighbor and that he had been harassing her for a month by contacting her and trying to go on a date with her.
She reportedly had contacted police twice because of his behavior.
The probable cause statement says that Crabtree attacked her after she tried to leave her apartment to complain about him to the complex’s manager.
He forced her back into her apartment and got on top of her with a knife in his hand.
A neighbor began banging on the door, causing Crabtree to flee from the victim’s apartment.
He was arrested after police arrived on scene.
A sentencing hearing has been scheduled for November 14.
