What We Know: The developer of a controversial data center being built in Marshfield off Rifle Range Road has filed a defamation lawsuit against Webster County presiding commissioner candidate Gail Peak Brown.

What It Means: Trent Overhue’s lawsuit alleges Brown made misleading claims about the development’s electrical and cooling systems.

What’s Next: It’s the second defamation lawsuit involving statements about the Marshfield project. Overhue and NSI A1 previously sued Katherine Wiltse, alleging she falsely claimed the facility had experienced two recent fires.

Overhue says statements about the project have caused financial losses for his company.
