What We Know: Missourians interested in learning how to hunt can take part in a free online program hosted by the Missouri Department of Conservation on July 1.

What It Means: The virtual “Get Started with Hunting in Missouri” presentation will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. and is open to anyone age 6 and older.

The program is designed for beginners and will cover the basics of getting started before fall hunting seasons begin.

Participants will learn about hunter education requirements, apprentice permits, managed hunt deadlines, hunting locations, and upcoming opportunities for new hunters.

MDC Conservation Educator Nicki Wheaton said the class is intended to help people understand the first steps involved in hunting and the resources available to them.

What’s Next: The presentation will also cover hunting regulations, game species found in Missouri, and mentored hunting opportunities.

Advance registration is required.

Participants who register will receive a Webex link by email on the day of the event.

Missouri’s fall hunting season begins Sept. 1 with dove season, while frog hunting is already underway.
