Missouri Asks For Federal Help After Severe Storms

Governor Mike Kehoe has requested FEMA assistance to assess widespread damage from severe storms in Missouri.

The joint state and federal effort aims to determine if the extent of the damage, including nearly 200 heavily damaged or destroyed uninsured properties, would qualify for state or federal disaster assistance.

If it’s approved, the aid could provide resources for temporary housing and home repairs for individuals, as well as cost recovery for local governments and nonprofits.

Although the process is slow, officials emphasize the importance of local reporting to ensure a complete picture of the damage for the recovery phase.
