What We Know: Missouri’s largest kratom distributor has agreed to stop selling kratom products in the state as part of a settlement with the Missouri Attorney General’s Office.
Attorney General Catherine Hanaway announced that American Shaman, also known as Shaman Botanicals LLC, will immediately halt all kratom sales to Missouri customers, both in stores and online.
Hanaway said the action was taken because kratom alkaloids, particularly 7-OH, pose serious health risks.
What It Means: Under the agreement, American Shaman must stop Missouri-focused advertising, including billboards, and put safeguards in place within 30 days to prevent retail sales in the state.
The company could face a $5 million penalty if it violates the terms.
The AG’s Office began investigating the company in November 2025.
