What We Know: Missouri’s fall turkey hunting season is in the books, and hunters brought home fewer birds this year.
What It Means: The Missouri Department of Conservation says hunters harvested 1,633 turkeys during the October firearms season. That’s down from 1,950 last year.
Greene County led the state with 56 birds, followed by Laclede and Perry counties with 42 each.
Conservation officials say warmer-than-normal temperatures and a wet spring likely contributed to the lower numbers.
And for hunters who aren’t quite ready to call it a season, fall archery turkey hunting continues through November 13th and picks back up November 25th.
