What We Know: Two Springfield bridges now have new weight restrictions following recent inspections by the Missouri Department of Transportation.
What It Means: The restrictions affect the Kansas Expressway bridge over Interstate 44 and the Gasconade Street bridge over U.S. 65.
On Kansas Expressway, single-unit vehicles are now limited to 35 tons, while combination vehicles, including tractor-trailers, are limited to 50 tons.
The Gasconade Street bridge, built in 1968, now has a 55-ton limit for combination vehicles.
MoDOT said the changes came after routine bridge inspections and updated load analyses conducted under federal guidelines.
What’s Next: State officials say the new limits will remain in place until those projects are completed.
