A woman from Springfield is in custody, facing several charges in connection with the death of her two-year-old son.

Springfield Police say Hannah Boemmels contacted officers in June of 2023 after she found her son unresponsive.

She admitted at that time to smoking meth out of a glass pipe earlier that day.

The boy was pronounced dead, and a day later tested positive for having meth, fentanyl, and morphine in his system.

Boemmels admitted to authorities she had smoked meth on a weekly basis for 14 years, but claimed she had never done drugs in front of her children.

She is charged with felony first-degree endangerment of the welfare of a child resulting in death, and felony first-degree endangerment of a child creating substantial risk.

Boemmels bond has been set at $100,000, and she is being held at the Greene County Jail.
