The city of Springfield has closed part of Mt. Vernon street for the next six weeks.
Mt. Vernon will be closed between Lulwood Avenue and Miller Avenue.
Crews will be installing new sidewalks along Mt. Vernon and Miller.
There will also be some work done to improve storm water drainage, sewer and gas and water lines.
