National Weather Service confirms two tornadoes hit the Ozarks on Friday

The National Weather Service in Springfield has confirmed that two tornadoes hit Douglas and Webster Counties during Friday’s storms.

What We Know: During the severe thunderstorms Friday, June 26th, NWS measured an EF-1 tornado southwest of Mt. Zion in Douglas County. It was on the ground for about two minutes, was 75 yards wide and traveled less than half a mile.

The estimated maximum wind speed was 95 miles per hour. No injuries were reported and the only damage reported was uprooted trees.

The second tornado that hit Friday was four miles north of Seymour in Webster County. An EF-0 twister was on the ground for about six minutes with an estimated maximum wind speed of 80 mph. NWS said it was 75 yards wide and traveled about 1.5 miles.

No injuries were reported from this tornado either, but it did cause a barn’s tin roof to blow off and some tree damage, according to NWS.
