Mercy Health Care plans to build an emergency department in South Springfield.
The ER will be built at the same location of Mercy Orthopeic Hospital- Springfield, which is off Highway 65 near the Greene-Christian county line.
It will make emergency services more accesible to people in Christian County.
Mercy officials say the new emergency department will open in 2025.
