New Springfield City Councilwoman Monica Horton Will be Sworn in Monday Night

The newest member of Springfield City Council will be sworn in at Monday night’s meeting.

The council chose Monica Horton to fill the Zone 1 vacancy (northwest Springfield) created when Angela Romine filed to run for state office.

For more than a decade, Horton has served as the CEO of Lenica Consulting, and she’s been a professor of music at Drury University.

Horton says she wants to address poverty and help create an inclusiveness in the northwest part of the city.

She also wants to help small business owners rebound and recover as we move out of the pandemic.
