One Dead Following Car Crash Along I-44 on Glenstone Exit Ramp

One person is dead following a crash that occurred along the exit ramp to Glenstone Avenue from I-44 over the weekend.

Investigators say two people were traveling in an SUV last Tuesday, June 18, when the driver lost control, causing the car to crash and flip into a drainage ditch between I-44 and Glenstone.

Officers believe speed may have been a factor in the cause of the crash.

One person, 35-year-old Chance Parker, was hospitalized with life threatening injuries, while the other passenger was diagnosed with minor injuries.

Authorities announced that Parker died of his injuries at an area hospital on Saturday.

It is the 11th traffic death in Springfield so far in 2024.
