One Dead, One Arrested after Shooting and Standoff with Springfield Police

A man is dead, and another in custody after a shooting led to a standoff with officers in Springfield.

Investigators say the shooting happened at around 3:30 a.m. Monday morning at the Wicked Superstore near Kearney and Benton in Springfield.

When authorities arrived, they found 31-year-old D’Vaunte Grant suffering from a gunshot wound.

He was transported to an area hospital, where he later died.

After the shooting, Springfield Police identified the suspect and tracked him to a home on North Lexington.

A standoff ensued, but after a short time, officers were able to arrest the man without further incident.

The identity of the suspect has not been released at this time.
