One Dead, Three Injured in Crash Near Waynesville

One man is dead, and three others are being treated for injuries after a head-on crash along Highway 17 north of Waynesville.

Highway Patrol troopers say 58-year-old Gregory Korando was driving a Dodge minivan on the northbound side of the highway at around 8:00pm Thursday night when he crossed the centerline and collided with a Jeep Compass driving southbound.

Korando was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Jeep and two children who were inside were transported to an area hospital with serious injuries.

It is the 11th traffic death for MSHP Troop I so far in 2024.
