Anglers lined the banks of Missouri’s three state trout parks long before daylight Friday for the opening day of the state’s catch-and-keep trout fishing season.
The opening horn sounded at 6:30 a.m. Friday at Roaring River State Park in Cassville, Benett Spring State Park near Lebanon, and Montauk State Park near Salem.
The Missouri Department of Natural Resources says trout park campgrounds, lodging and restaurants will be busy this weekend, and visitors should come prepared with water and snacks.
Missouri residents ages 16 to 64 and nonresidents ages 16 and older are required to purchase a fishing permit and a daily trout tag.
A resident fishing permit is $13 for a year and daily permits are $8.
The daily limit is four trout.
