With Christmas Day here and gone, and the new year approaching, one local department wants to inform you about your options with your old Christmas tree.
Springfield Environmental Services is offering a list of tips for residents with both artificial and real trees if you’re considering disposing of it this year.
For live trees, the service reminds you that Missouri landfills will not accept real trees, but there are numerous options locally, including:
- The City of Springfield Yardwaste Recycling Center
- Hansen’s Greenwaste
- Wickman’s Gardens
- Bass Pro Shops
If you have an artificial Christmas tree that is in good condition, it can be donated to either the Habitat for Humanity ReStore, or the Missouri Council of the Blind Thrift Store.
Artificial trees can also be disposed of at the Springfield Sanitary Landfill.
