State health officials say a patient diagnosed with an infection from brain-eating amoeba has died.
The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services says the adult patient died Tuesday at a St. Louis hospital.
The infection was confirmed by lab test on August 13.
Officials believe the patient came in contact with the amoeba while water skiing at the Lake of the Ozarks.
