Possession of Marijuana Recreationally is Officially Legal

As of this morning, December 8th, the new law legalizing recreational marijuana is in effect.

The catch is that there is nobody you can legally buy it from yet. In February, medical dispensaries will be able to start applying to transition their licenses to be able to sell marijuana for recreational use.

Also happening in February is the ability for individuals to apply for a license to grow limited amounts of marijuana privately. This registration will cost 100 dollars.

Law enforcement officials are saying that this transitionary time is causing some headaches in the enforcement of drug laws.

University of Missouri points out that despite the legalization of recreational marijuana possession, weed is still prohibited from all campuses and all sponsored student activities, on or off campus. This is due to the ‘Drug Free Schools and Community Act’, and the ‘Drug Free Workplaces’ act.
