Preliminary Report Indicates Fire in Springfield May Have Been on Purpose

Investigators say a fire that began Tuesday evening in Springfield may have been arson.

Authorities responded to the 2200 block of North Delaware for what began as an altercation and arrested one person.

First responders had to help several people inside the home escape the flames.

While there is belief the fire could have been intentional, fire marshals say they won’t know until they can investigate further after the home is demolished, as it is not safe to enter at this time.
