In 2025 the city of Monett started a “Clean Streets Initiative” to clean up the city.
“Project Curb Appeal” is the new initiative to help the city look and feel better for both residents and visitors.
City leaders invited people from around the region to take a tour of the city and get a general impression of Monett. Then, they met to put together some objectives on what the city can improve on.
They came up with eight ideas in four catagories: Amplifying whats right, fixing what’s wrong, adding what’s missing, and clairifying what’s confusing. They’re looking at a rehilibation of downtown along with planting trees and making Highway 60 corridor improvements.
Partnerships with existing organizations and community groups will help achieve these goals.
They’re looking at putting up a gateway sign near the intersection of 60 and 37, and awards for houses with nice curb appeal. Both individuals and groups who volunteer are being recognized.
It’s a matter of pride in the city of Monett and residents of that city have every reason to be proud.
