A planned rezoning effort on East Division St. in North Springfield has drawn concerns and pushback from residents.
The proposal would turn 48 acres of property into a development of single family homes, duplexes, and multi-story apartments.
However, at Monday’s city council meeting, the proposal was sent back to planning and rezoning after residents voiced concerns about traffic and flooding issues.
Areas around Division St. already suffer from flooding when it rains, and many residents think that the development could make these problems worse.
The next Planning and Zoning meeting will be held tomorrow, and many hope that the city and council will work together to address these issues and adjust the proposal accordingly.
