A woman from California, Shana Gaviola, was sentenced to three years in federal prison for arranging the forced abduction of her teenage son to the Agape boarding school in Missouri.

Despite a 2020 protection order barring contact, Gaviola orchestrated his August 2021 kidnapping from a Fresno ice rink, where he was handcuffed and driven to the facility while restrained for over a day.

Following an investigation by federal and local authorities, the teen was eventually released to his father.
