What We Know: A controversial Wisconsin research facility that drew national attention earlier this year is preparing to transfer all of its remaining dogs, bringing another major chapter in the ongoing rescue effort to a close.:
What It Means: The news comes just weeks after hundreds of beagles rescued from the operation found temporary refuge with organizations across the country, including Rescue One in Springfield.
What’s Next: Ridglan Farms will sell 325 dogs to Big Dog Ranch Rescue, with those animals expected to be transferred this week.
The latest move follows months of negotiations and rescue efforts that have already helped approximately 1,635 dogs leave the facility for shelters, rescue groups and adoptive homes nationwide.
Ridglan Farms had previously agreed to surrender its commercial dog breeding and seller’s license by July 1 as part of a plea agreement.
Families interested in fostering or adopting one of the rescued beagles can find more information through Rescue One’s website.
