School Bus Driver Shortage Leads to Decrease in Bus Routes

A shortage of drivers has forced Springfield Public Schools to cut bus service to three magnet programs.

The programs are the Wolf School, the AG Academy, and the Academy of Exploration.

About 180 students will be affected by the move. John Mulford, Deputy Superintendent of Operations, says the district hoped to restore bus service by the end of the first quarter. Mulford says the district needs 128 drivers but has only 112.
