Southwest Missouri’s Aid Efforts for Hurricane Ian

Southwest Missouri is sending help to Florida to assist in the recovery efforts for Hurricane Ian’s projected damage.

Springfield City Utilities is sending two electric line crews and support staff to Florida to assist in power line restoration efforts after Hurricane Ian impacts the state starting Wednesday. Spokesman Joel Alexander says because of the changes in the weather pattern and timing, crews left overnight Monday night to stage with other line crews responding to the request for assistance.

Springfield-based Convoy of Hope spent Monday pre-packing bags of relief supplies, such as groceries, that it’s disaster relief team will distribute after Hurricane Ian hits Florida. Conoy’s World Distribution Center is near Highway 60 and MM in Springfield.
