SPD 50-60 Officers Short of Full Strenth

Springfield Police Department officials say that the department is 50-60 officers short of full strength.

Recource Management Officer Greg Anderson says the shortage has many causes, including difficulty recruiting officers nationwide and officers retiring.

Anderson says the department will not lower its standards to get more applicants.

Sign-ups for the next police academy in January 2024 end in October.
