What We Know: A man from Springfield is now charged in connection with a deadly shooting Sunday night.

What It Means: Greene County prosecutors charged 36-year-old Darvin Toman with second-degree murder and armed criminal action in the death of 32-year-old Paxton Barnett.

A judge ordered Toman held without bond.

Springfield Police say officers were called to the 2500 block of West Water Street just before 8 Sunday night. Investigators say the shooting followed a physical altercation.

What’s Next: Court documents say a witness in Lawrence County told investigators that Toman admitted shooting a man in Springfield and said he hoped the man died.

Barnett was taken to a Springfield hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
