A federal court sentenced a man from Springfield Tuesday on charges of conspiracy to distribute drugs for his leadership role in a drug trafficking organization.

What We Know: Keith L. Rayford, 52, was sentenced to 25 years in federal prison without the possibility of parole by a U.S. District judge on Tuesday for one count of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine, fentanyl, heroin, cocaine, and ecstasy after a prior drug felony conviction.

The judge sentenced Rayford to an additional five years in prison because he committed the offense while on federal supervised release following a prior federal drug trafficking conviction.

Back in 2023, Springfield Police discovered the conspiracy that involved Rayford and three others after search warrants uncovered millions of dollars worth of controlled substances, as well as firearms and thousands in cash.

Two of the three others involved in the case have been sentenced with the third awaiting sentencing.
