Springfield Mayor Jeff Schrag shared his vision of the city’s future at the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce’s annual State of the City event Thursday morning.

Key Points: The mayor highlighted the exciting opportunities the city has had in recent times and the pushed for embracing more in the future. Schrag put a focus on the need for collaboration in the community to further its growth and positive reputation in state and national media.

Schrag gave a message of hope and a bright future for the Springfield area:

“People seeing Springfield for the first time often recognize something many of us overlook. They see a city with energy. With momentum. With opportunity. They see a vibrant downtown. Incredible outdoor access. Authentic neighborhoods. And a great quality of life. In many ways, Springfield is the complete package. And sometimes, we are the only ones who do not fully realize it. We need to learn how to talk about ourselves differently. Not with arrogance. Not by pretending we do not have challenges. But with honesty, confidence, and with perspective. Because sometimes the people who see Springfield most clearly are the people visiting for the very first time”
