City Utilities of Springfield is moving forward with 280 Million Dollars in projects for additional electric generation and battery storage. City Utilities plans to install new gas turbines that will run on natural gas and have fuel oil backup for emergencies.

When the projects are finished, City Utilities will be able to generate enough reserve power to deal with storms or any other potential disruptions. Those projects are expected to be completed by 2027.
