There will be no varsity football in 2025 at Springfield’s Central High School.

The school district says a lack of participation and student safety are the biggest reasons behind the decision.

Athletes and their parents are now calling on the community to support the upperclassmen by signing a petition.

One player says this feels like a punch in the gut after spending the last three months attending morning and evening practices.

The Bulldogs will play at the junior varsity level this season.
