Strafford’s Board of Aldermen has scrapped plans and put the development of a wastewater treatment plant on pause.

The city applied for a state grant back in 2021 and began plans for the treatment plant, but Strafford residents fought against the plan due to worries of expense, staffing, and possible odors.

However, at last night’s meeting, the board approved a resolution to put development of a plant on pause and reallocate the money for that project elsewhere.

The city of Springfield will continue to treat Strafford’s wastewater.
